What happened: Liberty Networks, Gold Data, and Sparkle collaborate on MANTA subsea cable system
Liberty Networks, Gold Data, and Sparkle have partnered to develop the MANTA subsea cable system, a 5,600 km submarine cable designed to connect the USA, Mexico, Panama, and Colombia. The system will feature new landing points in Veracruz, Mexico, and Apalachee, Florida, providing low-latency routes to major data hubs in Mexico City, Queretaro, Bogota, and Panama City. The MANTA cable is expected to support a minimum capacity of 20 terabits per second (Tbps) per fiber pair and is anticipated to be operational by 2027.

Why it’s important
The MANTA subsea cable system will be the first international submarine cable in the Gulf of Mexico, greatly improving regional connectivity. By offering low-latency routes, it will enhance data traffic flow and link key hubs, meeting the rising demand for fast and reliable internet services in Latin America.
