Edge Impulse’s platform, used by over 170,000 developers, enables the creation, deployment, and monitoring of AI models on edge devices such as microcontrollers and AI-accelerated processors. The platform features a user-friendly, low-code interface that supports data collection, model training, deployment, and monitoring.

Its applications span asset tracking, anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, and computer vision-based solutions. Following the acquisition, Qualcomm plans to integrate Edge Impulse’s platform with its Dragonwing processors. These processors deliver exceptional on-device AI inferencing, computer vision, and graphics performance. By leveraging Qualcomm AI Hub, the integration aims to improve AI model efficiency, potentially quadrupling inference performance while reducing model size and memory usage.

Initially, the Dragonwing QCS6490 and QCS5430 processors will support the integration, with plans to expand to more industrial and embedded IoT processors in the future.
