    • Nokia launches the FastMile Gateway 4, featuring high-gain antennas and dual-band Wi-Fi 7.
    • The device supports 4Gbps Wi-Fi capacity, powered by Nokia’s Corteca software.

What happened: Nokia’s FastMile Gateway 4 revolutionises home internet

Nokia has introduced the FastMile Gateway 4, a new 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) device designed to deliver ultra-high-speed internet connectivity to homes. This innovative gateway is equipped with high-gain antennas (up to 8 dBi) and dual-band Wi-Fi 7, enabling seamless self-installation by consumers. The FastMile Gateway 4 supports 4 carrier aggregation, up to 300MHz of bandwidth, and 8RX/3TX capabilities. These features collectively enhance spectrum efficiency, coverage, and speed, providing up to 4Gbps of Wi-Fi capacity within the home.

The technology behind the FastMile Gateway 4 is designed to boost connection speeds by allowing devices to send and receive data simultaneously across multiple frequency bands and channels. This is made possible through Wi-Fi 7’s multi-link operation (MLO), which significantly improves overall performance. The gateway is powered by Nokia’s Corteca software, which supports embedded value-added applications, cloud-based Wi-Fi optimisation, and device management based on open industry standards and EasyMesh.

Nokia’s commitment to user-friendly installation is evident in the mobile app that accompanies the FastMile Gateway 4. This app guides users to the ideal location for optimal performance, ensuring a hassle-free setup process. According to Dirk Verhaegen, General Manager of Broadband Devices at Nokia, the addition of the FastMile Gateway 4 strengthens Nokia’s extensive FWA portfolio, providing operators with a powerful option to deliver fast, reliable broadband to customers regardless of their location.

    Why it’s important

The launch of Nokia’s FastMile Gateway 4 marks a significant advancement in home internet connectivity. With its high-gain antennas and dual-band Wi-Fi 7 capabilities, the gateway offers unparalleled speed and efficiency, making it an attractive solution for consumers seeking high-speed internet. The support for 4Gbps Wi-Fi capacity and multi-link operation (MLO) ensures that users can enjoy seamless connectivity across multiple devices.

The integration of Nokia’s Corteca software further enhances the gateway’s functionality by providing cloud-based optimisation and device management. This not only improves the user experience but also simplifies the management of home networks. The FastMile Gateway 4’s user-friendly installation process, guided by a mobile app, makes it accessible to a wide range of consumers, even those with limited technical expertise.

In a market where demand for high-speed internet is continuously growing, the FastMile Gateway 4 stands out as a powerful solution. It addresses the need for reliable and efficient connectivity, especially in areas where traditional broadband infrastructure may be lacking. By offering a robust and scalable solution, Nokia is positioning itself at the forefront of the FWA market, ready to meet the evolving needs of modern households.
