Imran Chaudhri, former Apple luminary, pioneers AI wearables with Humane. Naomi Campbell dazzles Paris Fashion Week with debut of Ai Pin, a game-changer in tech interaction.
Who is Imran Chaudhri?
Chaudhri, a longstanding figure at Apple for close to two decades, spearheaded the design of the iPhone’s home screen. Meanwhile, Bongiorno played a pivotal role as a lead in software development across various Apple products, spanning from the iPhone and iPad to the Mac, as outlined by Bloomberg. Following their tenure at Apple, the duo ventured into entrepreneurship, founding Humane in 2018. Notably, they brought on board numerous former Apple colleagues, including Patrick Gates, who held the esteemed position of senior director of engineering.
Humane’s primary focus lies in pioneering the next generation of consumer devices. Despite industry giants such as Apple and Meta concentrating heavily on mixed reality headsets, Humane is charting a distinct course, as highlighted by Reuters. Imran Chaudhri, president of Humane, articulated earlier this year that “the future transcends mere facial interfaces.”
The AI startup has secured a substantial $230 million in funding thus far, with its most recent Series C round amounting to $100 million, finalised in March of this year. Noteworthy backers of Humane include Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, Microsoft, and Tiger Global Management.
In his statement regarding the Ai Pin, Chaudhry expressed, “Ai Pin epitomises our vision of seamlessly integrating AI into daily life, augmenting our capabilities without eclipsing our humanity.”
“It stands as the inaugural wearable device and software platform designed to harness the full potential of artificial intelligence (AI),” Chaudhry stated, as cited by Reuters.
During his Ted Talk, Chaudhri expounded upon the significance of the AI Pin, asserting, “This transcends the mere evolution of devices in terms of size or power. This represents the prospect of reshaping the human-technology dynamic as we currently perceive it.”

What is Ai Pin?
Just this week, Humane, with the endorsement of Sam Altman, introduced its debut wearable device – the Ai Pin – which leverages AI technology, including OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Microsoft’s cloud computing infrastructure, to facilitate virtual assistant interactions.
Designed to be affixed to clothing, the Ai Pin enables users to tap into and communicate with a virtual assistant, empowered by technology from OpenAI, the creators of ChatGPT, and bolstered by Microsoft’s cloud computing prowess. Moreover, the Ai Pin employs an innovative laser projection system to display text and monochromatic imagery onto the user’s hand.
Notably, supermodel Naomi Campbell adorned the Ai Pin during the 2024 Spring Summer Show at Paris Fashion Week, marking the first public display of the device.
