Several public sources
- The company Apple released on Tuesday that it will hold a special Apple event on May 7 to get ready for new Apple hardware—iPad Pro and iPad Air.
- The new models would represent Apple’s first overhaul of that lineup since 2018.
- Apple is also scheduled to hold its World Wide Developers Conference from June 10 to June 14.
Apple announced on Tuesday that the company will hold an event on May 7, following reports that the much-anticipated updated iPad Pro and iPad Air models will be released the following month.
Information about event
This is an online-only reveal. Everyone has to wait until next month for a splashy in-person event. But the Cupertino, California-based company did not disclose more details about the event that would kick off at 7 a.m. PT (2 p.m/ GMT). Watch live at apple.com/apple-events.
Apple‘s foreign suppliers had increased production of the new iPads, with an early May launch scheduled, according to a Bloomberg News report in March.
The new models would be the first lineup revamp by Apple since 2018.
FaceTime cameras for the iPad Pro series have been suggested, which is a welcome addition. Based on other reports, the iPad Pro model may have OLED displays, which would bring its specifications closer to those of current tablets and potentially allow for a thinner chassis.
The iPad may support MagSafe charging, which may necessitate the purchase of new, faster chargers. Regarding the iPad Air, a bigger screen—possibly measuring 12.9 inches—might be available. Given that the iPad Air is still on the M1, a newer processor is probably in order, and the camera might be moved to a more practical location.
Sales of iPads have decreased at the same time as the possible launch. In the first quarter, sales fell 25% to $7.02 billion, and the company’s most popular product, the iPhone, has also seen a decline in sales.

More information
As economic uncertainty increases and consumers cut back on non-essential spending, the tablet market is under pressure. However, Apple experts are working to counteract the decline in demand with new products.
In the first quarter of 2018, which concluded on December 30, Apple’s net sales of $119.58 billion included just 5.9% of sales of iPads.
Additionally, Apple has scheduled its Worldwide Developers Conference for June 10 to14.
