Cargill Asia Pacific: Build innovation and digital platforms
Cargill Asia Pacific Holdings Pte Ltd uses Singapore to grow its food and agriculture business. In September 2022, Cargill opened its Asia Pacific Digital Business Studio with Singapore’s Economic Development Board (EDB). This studio helps start-ups create solutions for farmers and improve ingredient supply chains. According to Ross Hamou‑Jennings, the chair of Cargill Asia Pacific, “Cargill combines deep industry knowledge with the speed of start-ups. We believe the digital business studio will encourage creativity and boldness in addressing regional challenges in food and agriculture.”
In November 2024, Cargill made more improvements to its Singapore Innovation Centre. With help from EDB and Enterprise Singapore, it now has a new food-service area and kitchen spaces. These upgrades aim to create new products for Asian consumers. This will allow Cargill to meet the growing demand for healthy, convenient, and indulgent foods.

Cargill Asia Pacific: Face industry challenges and innovate
The food and agriculture industry in Asia is changing quickly. More people want food, but supply chains face new challenges. According to Cargill’s 2024 TrendTracker report, 33% of consumers in Asia want richer flavours in sweets, while 70% prefer locally-sourced ingredients. To meet these needs, Cargill introduced new chocolate products at the 2024 Food & Hotel Asia show. These included caramel-based pastes and coatings. Xiaoling Liu, the Indulgence Leader, stated, “Consumers today care about experiences. In Asia, 30 to 40% of them prefer caramel-flavoured chocolate.”
In addition, Cargill continues to work on animal nutrition. At VIV Asia 2025, it launched Biostrong™ digestive products for poultry. The company also introduced tools to control mycotoxins in animal feed. Cargill also showcased digital tools like Reveal™ Layers, which tracks chicken fat, and Galleon™, an AI-powered system that monitors gut health. Gina Medina, the business director for South & Southeast Asia, explained, “Cargill focuses on improving animal health and helping farmers produce better livestock.”
