Summary

  • Define who can pause, override and safely resume each consequential automated decision.
  • Test degraded and manual modes often enough that people, permissions and documentation still work under pressure.

Automation removes repetitive effort and can make service more consistent, but it also concentrates assumptions in code, data and vendors. A rare failure then crosses many cases before a person understands it. The next useful evidence is a recovery exercise that records detection, authority, rollback, reconciliation and customer impact. Good automation does not require constant human approval; it preserves human comprehension and intervention exactly where scale makes an error expensive.
