In this section: 5 briefings
  1. A cloud free tier needs an exit budget before it needs more users

Free storage stops being free at the moment a useful workload begins to grow. The immediate control point is not the advertised allowance, but the cost of moving, retrieving and supporting the data once the allowance ends.

  2. A small IPv4 block still needs full-sized due diligence

Calling IPv4 a micro-investment understates the work between paying for addresses and controlling a usable network resource. The smaller the transaction, the easier it is for fixed legal, registry and reputation costs to erase the expected return.

  3. Wireless power claims need a distance-and-efficiency boundary

“Wireless” can describe a charging pad separated by millimetres or energy sent across a room. Those are different engineering and regulatory propositions, and any deployment claim should state which one it means.

  4. AI adoption needs a decision boundary before a capability list

An AI feature can draft, classify or recommend, yet the operational question is what it may decide without review. That boundary determines whether an error remains a suggestion or becomes a business action.

  5. Private credit yield needs a currency and liquidity test

A high coupon can compensate for risk, but it can also be the clearest sign of risk. In cross-border infrastructure lending, the first question is whether the borrower earns cash in the same currency in which the debt must be serviced.

  1. Cable resilience needs diverse landings, not just more cable names

A coastline can appear well connected on a cable map while several systems still share one landing site, terrestrial corridor or repair dependency. Resilience begins where those common paths separate.

  2. PacketExchange records need a current clock

Legal, registry and interconnection records can identify PacketExchange without showing what its network does now.

Coverage

Governance / RIR Watchdog / AFRINIC / Story

In this section: 7 briefings
  1. AFRINIC contained a million-address routing incident. Its safeguard record is still incomplete

AFRINIC says it removed IRR entries that helped unauthorised routes from the reserved block 102.224.0.0/12 spread, contacted transit providers and intensified monitoring. Public route history supports much of that account and shows the routes are no longer visible to RIPE RIS peers. What remains unpublished is the incident ledger operators need to test the control: exact objects, origins, withdrawal times and the additional safeguard AFRINIC said it was reviewing.

  2. AFRINIC called transfer-policy criticism “mischievous.” The authority case is still open

AFRINIC answered outside criticism of its transfer policy by declaring its Board properly constituted, defending a bottom-up process and directing members to official channels. Its own litigation page now records the challenge to that Board’s ratification as ongoing. The gap is not proof that the policy is unlawful; it is evidence that institutional confidence did not resolve the authority question.

  3. AFRINIC named four election gatekeepers. It did not show how its Board chose them

AFRINIC’s 2026 Nomination Committee decided who reached final slates for seven governance positions. The Board published the four appointees and later identified a chair, but the fixed public record does not show the applicant pool, the appointment assessment, conflict declarations, the appointing resolution or which appointee fulfilled the bylaws’ Board-representative element.

  4. AFRINIC sought an HR audit. Its Remuneration Committee’s follow-through is not public

AFRINIC opened an unusually specific HR consultancy process in April: test the skills of 41 staff, review performance appraisal and build a succession plan for business continuity. Four months later, the public procurement notice remains easy to find. The award, signing date, deliverables and Remuneration Committee decisions that should turn that diagnosis into accountable executive action are not identifiable in the fixed public record.

  5. A 106–34 tally is not an electorate

AFRINIC disclosed the vote that assigned an extra year, but not the voter register, turnout denominator or complete eligibility record needed to audit it.

  6. An interim refusal does not decide the policy

AFRINIC’s docket lists a policy challenge, a declined and unserved interim application, and an appeal. All remain ongoing; none is a published merits judgment.

  7. AFRINIC’s PDWG consensus needs an audit record

Two people applied for staggered co-chair seats; one was accepted and the other seat deferred. The public packet omits counts and eligibility reasons.

  1. Google plans three new Americas subsea cables

Alisios, Canoa and OlaLuz would make the Dominican Republic a common junction between planned Caribbean, Pacific and Atlantic routes.

  2. Lambda needs a customer-concentration covenant

Integrated AI infrastructure shifts complexity from customers but ties debt service to a few large contracts.

  3. Lambda’s power contracts are financing contracts

AI capacity cannot earn without electricity. Long power and site commitments therefore shape lender risk as much as hardware debt.

  4. Lambda needs a hardware residual-value test

Debt outlives accelerator generations. Recovery value matters if customer demand shifts before equipment is repaid.

  1. PXNET’s two ASNs need two evidence lines

PXNET Changgong Zhang appears beside AS212237 and AS141445 in public records, but a shared name is not enough to merge two network identities into one operating claim.

  1. INTERBIT’s ASN does not prove hosting control

PWInterbit-AS Przedsiebiorstwo Wielobranzowe INTERBIT Sp. z o.o. can be linked to AS208930, but a routing identity does not by itself define the boundary of a hosting service.

  1. Every network metric needs a failure model

Nick Feamster’s work made configuration, broadband and censorship measurable. A metric becomes operational evidence only when it states how it can be wrong.

  2. Network observation is not causation

Nick Feamster’s tools made hidden faults visible across routing, spam, broadband and censorship. Measurement still needs a causal boundary.

  3. Network tools need reproducible limits

A useful checker can reveal hidden configuration faults. Its result remains trustworthy only when others can reproduce its scope and misses.

  1. The campus edge is UbuntuNet’s service floor

A 10 Gbps regional core cannot improve research sessions that terminate behind a constrained campus circuit, firewall, Wi-Fi network or power supply.

  2. Backbone capacity needs an adoption ledger

UbuntuNet’s move from roughly 2.5 to 10 Gbps is a regional input. Its value depends on which universities can actually use the added capacity and keep paying for it.

  3. Campus capacity needs a renewal clock

UbuntuNet’s 10 Gbit/s core can outlive campus routers, optics, firewalls, batteries and support contracts. Capacity erodes when replacement dates remain implicit.

  4. Regional support needs an incident-authority map

UbuntuNet can observe and coordinate a regional path, but a campus, national network or carrier may hold the change right needed to restore it.

  1. Arelion needs a renewal scorecard

Tier-1 independence is durable only when capacity, suppliers, security and investment renew together.

  2. GTT needs a contract-maturity wall

GTT reduced owned infrastructure after Chapter 11, but partner commitments can cluster into a new fixed-cost shock.

  3. GTT needs a partner-concentration map

A partner-led network can look asset-light while several services still depend on one wholesale supplier or facility.

  4. GTT must measure margin by access contract

Managed-service growth can hide expensive partner circuits. Revenue quality depends on margin after each access commitment.

  5. GTT’s rebuild needs a downturn test

The restructured network looks lighter in normal demand. Its real test is whether partner obligations shrink when traffic and customers fall.

  6. Tier-1 reach needs a capacity-renewal plan

AS1299 gives Arelion routing independence, not permanent headroom. Traffic growth still consumes ports, fibre and equipment.

  7. Arelion’s security operations must renew with the network

Routing independence expands the attack and abuse surface as well as reach. AS1299 needs current controls, people and escalation paths.

  8. Tier-1 independence still needs supplier diversity

AS1299 can reach the internet without buying transit. Arelion still buys power, fibre, equipment and local access from others.

  1. AS31605 separates records, routes and facilities

Public sources connect Titanium OU, ALLOY-NETWORKS and AS31605, but registration, observed routing and a company data-centre description prove different things.
