For an organization considering a bid to host APNIC's 2029 conference in South Asia, the first question should be simple: when does the door open? APNIC's public pages give two answers.

The newer answer is in APNIC's 29 October update. It says the Expression of Interest, or EoI, for the September 2029 meeting will open in March 2027 and run for six months, closing in September. The article points readers to APNIC's stand-alone host EoI guidance. That page says the 2029 EoI will open in May and close in September.

The same guidance page publishes a general clock: open 30 months before the event, close 24 months before. Applied to September 2029, it yields March to September 2027. The blog's six-month calendar fits that rule. The page's May entry does not. APNIC says timelines are indicative and may change in exceptional circumstances; the page does not identify an exception for this EoI or explain the different month.

The date matters because this is the front door to the process. APNIC says its Secretariat researches submissions, may talk informally with potential hosts, and recommends a preferred location to the Executive Council. The Council selects preferred and backup hosts. APNIC's guidance says the local host supplies local support and commitment but is not expected to lead financial or event management. A prospective host needs to know when to assemble its proposal and engage with the Secretariat.

The missing fact is one confirmed opening month, with an explanation if the 30-month milestone has changed. Until APNIC aligns the two pages, a first-time host has to guess which official calendar to follow.
