• Radisys has launched its V.AI partner programme with ElevenLabs, Hiya, ReadSpeaker, Sensory and Speechmatics
  • Operators can run supported voice-AI services in their own infrastructure or public clouds, but performance and cost will depend on the application and deployment

The fact

Radisys launched its V.AI partner programme, adding voice and speech technologies from five companies to its Engage Digital Platform. The initial partners are ElevenLabs, Hiya, ReadSpeaker, Sensory, and Speechmatics. Their technologies can support services including call screening, clearer speech and live translation, while Radisys is also providing V.AI Studio for operators developing their own applications.

Operators can run these services in their own managed infrastructure, in public clouds or across a combination of the two. That flexibility builds on the design of the Engage Digital Platform, which Radisys first introduced in 2022 for deployment across public and private data centres and edge environments. Radisys says local deployment can help operators manage performance, security and cost. The company has not published results comparing latency or operating costs across the different partner applications and hosting options.

The assessment

For operators, the main question is not simply which voice-AI tool to choose, but where it should run. A feature such as live translation has to respond quickly enough to keep a conversation natural. Other tasks can tolerate more delay. The best setup may therefore differ from one service to another.

Running an application closer to the network could reduce the distance audio has to travel, while a public cloud may be easier to scale. Operators also need to know where voice data is processed and who can access it. Radisys gives them several deployment options, but the launch does not show which one will work best in practice.

For BTW readers, the clearest test will be a real operator deployment. End-to-end response times, operating costs, and data-handling arrangements for a specific voice service would show whether the wider partner ecosystem produces a better customer experience rather than simply adding more technology choices.

What to watch

Watch for a named operator launching one of the V.AI services and disclosing where it runs. Measurements of response time, service quality and operating cost would help show whether local, cloud or mixed deployments make a meaningful difference for customers.
