OUR TAKE
Developing AI is of irreplaceable importance in promoting social progress, improving the quality of life, and solving global problems. If Pelosi believes, SB1047 implementation would have significant unintended consequences, stifle innovation and damage the US AI ecosystem. Even more, it will affect the future of American technology and economic development.

The bill would require large companies to “conduct basic security tests on powerful AI models,” said the California senator. Scott Wiener, the initiator of the bill. He noted that startups are not within the scope of the bill, and that Google and Meta oppose it.
