RIPE transfers dormant /21 to Verda Cloud

RIPE Changed the Holder of 2,048 Addresses. RIS Had Seen No Route Since July.

Why it matters

Verda Cloud received a Finnish /21 on 30 October. The registry changed hands on paper after the route had already vanished from RIPE's own observation network.

RIPEstat's 2 November 08:00 UTC RIS snapshot saw the block at zero of 323 IPv4 full-table peers. Its last one-peer sighting was 13 July; the route had been broadly visible through 1 July.

The transfer table closes the registration question cleanly: a complete Finnish /21 left Telia Cygate Oy for Verda Cloud Oy on 30 October, marked POLICY and PERMANENT. The current RDAP object names Verda Cloud and timestamps the new registration at 15:35:02 UTC that day. Its legacy object label, FI-DATACRUNCH-20091124, survived the change. A label can outlive a holder; the registration event is the useful clock.

The route clock tells another story. RIPEstat Routing Status reports zero of 323 RIS IPv4 peers seeing the exact /21 at 08:00 UTC on 2 November, with no more-specific route in that snapshot. The one-peer threshold matters: the default view can discard low-visibility announcements. Routing History shows AS29422 reaching roughly 324 to 330 peers through 1 July, then one peer during part of 13 July. The transfer arrived more than three months after that final RIS sighting.
