Wire 3 said on 4 August that it had begun construction of a $36m fibre network in Anderson, its first market in South Carolina. The Florida-based broadband provider said the fully funded project is intended to reach nearly 35,000 homes and businesses, with crews already working in initial service areas.

Wire 3 expects to connect its first Anderson customers as early as autumn 2026 while construction continues elsewhere in the market. Anderson is part of a wider South Carolina expansion announced in May, when the company outlined a $147m investment covering communities in Anderson, Greenville, Pickens and Orangeburg counties.

The Assessment

Wire 3 plans to start connecting customers before the whole Anderson network is finished. In practice, the network will open in stages: crews complete a neighbourhood, the fibre is tested, and homes there can then be connected while construction continues elsewhere.

This means Wire 3 has to manage construction and customer activation at the same time. Finished sections need to be ready for installations even as crews move on to the next part of the build. The company has not said how many premises have been passed so far, which neighbourhoods will open first or when all 35,000 planned locations will be ready.
