The fact
Pasqal and LG CNS said on 10 September that they had signed a three-year memorandum of understanding to explore integrating quantum computing with AI data-centre services. The agreement brings Pasqal's neutral-atom technology together with LG CNS's data-centre infrastructure and operating expertise.
The work will include integration with AI Haus, LG CNS's AI data-centre framework, and its operating and management platforms. The companies also plan joint technical and business development and said they would explore opportunities outside South Korea. They have not identified a customer using the combined service in production or disclosed pricing or an installation timetable.
Pasqal had already expanded its presence in South Korea before the agreement. In October 2025, the French company announced investment and public-sector support for its Korean operations, with LG Electronics among its investors. LG Electronics and LG CNS are separate companies within the wider LG group; the latest memorandum concerns LG CNS's data-centre and services business.
The September announcement sets out an integration programme rather than a performance result. Neither company has published an end-to-end benchmark showing that the proposed hybrid approach can complete a customer workload faster or more cheaply than conventional computing.
The assessment
LG CNS is trying to make Pasqal’s quantum processor work as part of the computing systems customers already use. Most workloads would still start and finish on conventional infrastructure, with only part of the job sent to the quantum machine. Data has to move between those systems, and that handoff needs to be smooth enough for the service to be useful outside a research setting.
Any performance claim also has to include the whole workload. A quantum processor might speed up one stage, but that advantage could disappear if preparing the data, moving it between systems or completing the remaining work takes too long or costs too much. Customers will care about the time, cost and final result of the full process, not just what happens on the quantum hardware.
For BTW readers, the three-year agreement shows that Pasqal and LG CNS are working on that integration, but not that they already have a commercially proven service. A named customer running a real workload would make the case much stronger. Until then, there is no evidence that the combined setup is faster or cheaper than conventional computing.
What to watch
Watch for the first customer trial or installation and the workload selected for it. An end-to-end comparison with a conventional baseline, including the same required output and total processing time or cost, would provide stronger evidence of whether the combined service offers a practical advantage.
