- Khazna and Siemens signed an MoU covering digital twins, AI-ready infrastructure and 800VDC power
- No facility, capacity, contract value or deployment timetable was disclosed
The fact
Khazna Data Centers and Siemens signed a memorandum of understanding on 15 September to establish a technical relationship around next-generation AI data-centre infrastructure. The agreement was signed at the UAE-Germany Business Forum in Munich.
The companies will explore AI-ready infrastructure strategy, technology testing, digital twins and next-generation power architectures. They said they would continue work on 800VDC power distribution and examine Siemens technology for possible use across Khazna's international portfolio. Siemens will also sponsor internships in Germany for nominated Emirati engineers.
The agreement does not name a Khazna facility where the technologies will be deployed. No capacity, contract value, equipment order or implementation timetable was disclosed.
The assessment
The 800VDC work is the part that reaches furthest into facility design. Higher-voltage DC distribution is being developed for increasingly dense AI racks because it can reduce the number of power-conversion stages between the grid and the compute equipment. Siemens is already developing 800VDC equipment for this emerging architecture.
Digital twins address a different stage of the same problem. Khazna and Siemens want to use them for simulation, design validation, system integration, commissioning and operational optimisation. Used together, the two technologies could let engineers test a new power architecture digitally before committing it to a physical facility.
The MoU does not mean Khazna has adopted 800VDC across its portfolio, however. That would require a named design, equipment specification and project deployment. For BTW readers, the agreement becomes operationally significant when Khazna puts the architecture into a real facility and carries it through design, commissioning and operation.
What to watch
Watch for a named Khazna project using 800VDC or Siemens digital-twin technology, followed by equipment specifications and a commissioning schedule. The clearest evidence of deeper integration would be Khazna repeating the same architecture across several facilities rather than testing it at a single site.
