  • AIMS Group completes 8MW IT load facility, Block 2, constructed in nine months using sustainable IR 4.0 technology with Gamuda.
  • Block 2 features a chilled-water fan wall cooling system, achieving a power usage effectiveness (PUE) of 1.5 or lower.
  • AIMS Cyberjaya Block 3, to be completed by Q2 2025, will support AI workloads with a 12MW capacity and liquid cooling option.

AIMS Group (“AIMS”), a prominent data centre services provider in Southeast Asia, has announced the completion of its 8MW IT load facility, AIMS Cyberjaya Block 2 (“Block 2”). In response to growing customer demand, AIMS is set to commence construction of AIMS Cyberjaya Block 3 (“Block 3”), expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2025.

The Block 2 data centre was constructed in an expedited nine-month timeline in partnership with Gamuda Engineering Sdn Bhd (“Gamuda”), utilising Gamuda’s “Next-Gen Digital IBS (Industrialised Building System)” solution. This approach leverages IR 4.0 (the Fourth Industrial Revolution) technology for a more sustainable construction process. The same technology will be employed for Block 3, which will feature a total IT load of 12MW and maintain a focus on sustainability.

Advanced cooling and AI integration

Chiew Kok Hin, Chief Executive Officer of AIMS, expressed excitement over the rapid uptake of AIMS Cyberjaya Block 2. “Block 2 is a high-power density data centre capable of achieving up to 20kW per rack at peak capacity. We are proud of the innovations implemented to ensure sustainability and energy efficiency,” said Chiew.

Block 2 incorporates a chilled-water fan wall cooling system with an internal design that optimises the aerodynamic performance of internal components. The smart control system manages airflow and temperature with precision, using specially developed algorithms for non-raised floor applications. This infrastructure design, combined with eco-friendly equipment, enables Block 2 to achieve a power usage effectiveness (PUE) of 1.5 or lower at full load operation.

Additionally, Block 2 includes AI capabilities to support the growing computational needs of AI workloads. This infrastructure is essential for training and deploying machine learning models and algorithms.

Future expansion and enhanced capabilities

AIMS Cyberjaya Block 3 will continue these innovations, offering an increased IT load capacity of 12MW to support more AI workloads. Customers will also have the option of a liquid cooling system.

Chiew added, “We are enthusiastic about AIMS’ accelerated growth and our expansion plans with our strategic partners, DigitalBridge. The strong demand for our facilities is very encouraging, and we are ready to build on this momentum moving forward.”
