Analysis

XLSmart , the Indonesian operator created from the recent $6.5bn merger of XL Axiata and Smartfren, has appointed iBasis as the exclusive international and domestic gateway for its mobile authentication traffic. According to iBasis, the company will now handle all authentication requests into XLSmart’s network prefixes, providing a single, secure route for traffic. The move comes shortly after iBasis expanded its footprint by acquiring Telstra International’s wholesale contracts. Feby Sallyanto, chief enterprise business solution officer at XLSmart, said the collaboration allows the operator to optimise aggregation and secure transport across the market, adding that iBasis’s global network and operational expertise ensure “seamless delivery” to XLSmart customers.
