• Building N adds 5.4MW across 9,300 square metres to Telehouse's Frankfurt campus, including about 2,165 square metres of technical space
  • The facility opens with air cooling while Telehouse considers liquid cooling, and another data centre on the campus is planned by 2030

The fact

Telehouse has opened Building N at its Frankfurt data-centre campus, adding 5.4MW of capacity. The KDDI-owned colocation provider said the new building is its sixth facility in Frankfurt. Building N covers about 9,300 square metres across four floors, including roughly 2,165 square metres of technical space. It currently uses air cooling, while Telehouse is considering adding liquid-cooling capability.

The facility sits within Telehouse's 67,000-square-metre Kleyerstraße campus, where the company says it has about 25,000 square metres of data-centre space and access to the DE-CIX internet exchange. Building M opened in 2023, and Telehouse says another data centre is planned on the same campus by 2030. The company has not disclosed how much of Building N's 5.4MW is already contracted.

The assessment

Building N gives Telehouse another 5.4MW to sell from the same Frankfurt campus. For customers already using the site, that creates more room to expand without moving to a different campus, while keeping access to the carriers and interconnection services already available there. How the new space is used is less clear. Building N opens with air cooling, and Telehouse has not said when or whether liquid cooling will be added. It has also not disclosed any customers or how much of the new capacity has been leased.

For BTW readers, the important point is that the 5.4MW now exists rather than sitting in a development pipeline. Customer take-up will show how quickly that capacity is absorbed, while any liquid-cooling upgrade will give a clearer picture of the workloads Telehouse expects the building to support.

What to watch

Watch how much of Building N's 5.4MW is leased, whether Telehouse names major customers and whether it commits to liquid cooling. The company also plans another data centre on the Frankfurt campus by 2030, so construction timing for that building will show how quickly it intends to add more capacity.
