What happened: New QR04 facility strengthens OData’s Mexico digital backbone

OData, part of Aligned Data Centers, inaugurated its fourth hyperscale data centre in Mexico, boosting its network presence in the Querétaro region. The new centre, known as QR04 and located near San Miguel de Allende, completes a set of four interconnected hyperscale sites designed to support cloud and AI workloads. QR04 offers up to 24 MW of IT capacity, with its first 12 MW phase already operational and serving major hyperscale clients. The facility features the innovative Delta Cube (Delta³) air-cooling system, which enhances thermal efficiency by capturing heat directly at the source. This system supports high-density racks of up to 50 kW each and can integrate with liquid cooling for demanding use cases.

QR04 also employs a closed-loop water cooling system that improves water usage efficiency through reuse and minimises environmental impact. Construction of this site generated over 1,500 local jobs and reinforces OData’s commitment to building sustainable digital infrastructure across Latin America.

Why it’s important

This new centre addresses critical challenges in the region’s digital growth, particularly energy reliability and sustainable cooling. By interconnecting it with three existing centres, OData ensures redundancy and high availability for cloud and AI services. The Delta³ system offers a scalable, energy-efficient solution that meets the thermal demands of high-density computing. Its closed-loop water system also advances water conservation efforts, aligning with environmental priorities.

Creating over 1,500 jobs supports local economic development while expanding digital capabilities. Added capacity increases confidence among hyperscalers and global cloud providers considering regional deployments. The launch of QR04 positions Mexico as a stronger digital hub and highlights Latin America’s growing role in the global AI and cloud infrastructure landscape.
