The 88th session of the Public Universities Housing Council Malaysia (MAPUM) and the student accommodation policy workshop, held over three days at Universitiy Utara Malaysia (UUM), served as a vital platform for Malaysian public universities (UA) to exchange ideas and perspectives.

Prof. Dr. Mohd Sazili Shahibi, deputy vice-chancellor (student affairs) of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and chairman of MAPUM emphasised the importance of the meeting, held from March 5th to 7th, in addressing student accommodation guidelines for UA.

Fostering collaboration and multilateral exchange

“This gathering provides a forum for UA to discuss, evaluate, and enhance accommodation services for students across all Malaysian public universities,” he remarked during the event at the co-curricular centre meeting room.

He also extended gratitude to UUM, particularly the student accommodation centre (SAC), for their collaborative efforts in ensuring the success of the event.

Representatives from 20 public universities across Malaysia, including Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), and Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), participated in this edition of the meeting. The event also saw attendees from various other institutions such as Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA).

“The arrival of the delegation was warmly welcomed by the secretariat, and I am optimistic that the intended objectives of this meeting will be realised. I would like to extend an invitation to the delegations to revisit UUM in order to experience the tranquil and peaceful atmosphere that UUM offers during its Visit UUM Year 2024.”

The occasion concluded with a celebratory dinner at UUM EDC, honouring all MAPUM members.
