According to Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Index, multicloud adoption in India is expected to increase significantly over the next three years.


What is multicloud?

Multicloud refers to the combination of private infrastructure with multiple public clouds.
Nutanix reports that hybrid multi-cloud adoption in India is currently 12% and is expected to grow fivefold (to 63%) over the next three years. This increase in adoption will be driven by an increase in infrastructure diversity and a strong emphasis on data storage, management, security and services.

“Customers have realized that different applications require different types of performance, and it makes sense to keep some applications with predictability on the private cloud or on-premise, and those with unpredictable size and scale on the public cloud,” Nutanix India and South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation General Manager Faiz Shakir told ET.

Cloud market in India

Shakir added that the cloud market in India has matured over the last few years and customers have gone through three consumption cycles before realizing what makes more business sense for them.
Nutanix’s research also found that nearly half (48%) of organizations in India utilize more than one type of IT infrastructure, including a mix of private and public clouds, multiple public clouds, or on-premises data centers, as well as colocation data centers.This number is expected to increase by 87% in three years, exceeding the global ECI average of 13%.
