Neways, a key supplier to Dutch computer chip equipment maker ASML, announced on Friday that it will build a new plant in Klang, Malaysia.

Netherlands-based Neways, the global innovator in mission-critical technology for leading semiconductor, connectivity, and smart mobility companies and a key supplier to Dutch computer chip equipment maker ASML, has announced the establishment of a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Klang, Selangor.
This strategic expansion further strengthens Neways’ global footprint, allowing Neways to service its customers across all geographies with design, prototyping, production, and repair services, the company said in a statement.
Neways, which was de-listed in 2021 after being taken over by investment firm Infestos for 177 million euros (USD$191 million), makes electrical control units, power controls and wiring systems for ASML’s lithography products.
The new facility will be based in Klang, Selangor, and is expected to initiate production in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Why Malaysia
A spokesperson for Neways said they could not disclose the size of the investment, but the company intends to grow its operation in Malaysia to 200 employees.
The new facility in Malaysia will serve as a hub for the production of high-tech electronic components, catering to the growing demand in the region.
This move is expected to strengthen Neways’ position in the Asian market and enable the company to better support its customers in the semiconductor industry.
Chief executive officer Hans Büthker said that as part of Neway’s global production strategy, the establishment of the facility is a testament to its unwavering commitment to providing exceptional products and services to its valued customers all over the world.
“The new facility in Malaysia not only fortifies our global manufacturing footprint but also propels our ambitious expansion plans in the region, with a strong focus on the semiconductor sector,” he said.
