YONECO: Rights-based development and advocacy

YONECO conducts inclusive, rights-based programmes that foster youth leadership, women’s empowerment, child safety, good governance, climate adaptation, and health. This includes radio broadcasts, hotlines, community theatre, and ICT tools. They partner with UN Women, UNFPA, UNICEF, Girls Not Brides, ISPCAN and more.

YONECO: Climate resilience and public health initiatives

YONECO leads climate-health interventions. In April 2024, trained community health workers in Machinga’s TA Mposa conducted awareness campaigns in 15 villages, reaching over 8,200 people through a climate‑health literacy initiative. They teach resilience measures, such as boiling water to prevent cholera and proper use of mosquito nets during floods and droughts.

YONECO: Governance, anti-corruption and social accountability

The organisation drives transparency locally by enabling communities to hold duty-bearers accountable through community dialogues, budget tracking and radio talkbacks. They also contribute to “Making Community Voices Count in Mining” and have participated in UNCAC review processes to promote anti-corruption efforts.
