What happened: Telekom Deutschland selects Compax for TaaS platform rollout

Telekom Deutschland, the German subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, has selected Compax to help launch a Telco-as-a-Service (TaaS) platform. This follows a competitive vendor selection process. The platform will allow external brands to offer mobile services without owning physical infrastructure.

Compax will provide a wide range of services, including Business Support Systems (BSS) and Operational Support Systems (OSS). This includes online charging systems and mobile core integration. The platform will support both wholesale and retail operations. Compax will also manage platform and business operations for Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) and partner brands.

Why it’s important

This partnership supports Telekom Deutschland’s strategy to expand its digital services. The TaaS platform opens up its mobile network to third parties. It creates a scalable environment for MVNOs and other brands to offer services. This reduces barriers for new players entering the market.

Leopold Kojeder, CEO of Compax, highlighted their long-standing relationship with Deutsche Telekom. He said this project is a significant milestone. The TaaS platform, he added, could transform the market by simplifying the entry of new virtual network operators.
