What happened: Deutsche Telekom unifies Wholesale services for global reach
Deutsche Telekom has consolidated its national and international wholesale operations into a single business unit named T Wholesale. The newly unified division merges the German wholesale arm of Telekom Deutschland GmbH with Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier, its international counterpart, to create a streamlined organisation aimed at delivering integrated telecommunications solutions for over 1,000 customers worldwide.
According to Managing Director Dr Kerstin Baumgart, the move will generate operational synergies that enhance the company’s ability to address both domestic and international market demands. “We offer a portfolio from a single source, both in Germany and internationally, creating a seamless customer experience,” Baumgart said. The integration equips T Wholesale to offer combined local expertise and global reach, particularly in areas such as cross-border connectivity, regulatory navigation and multinational infrastructure support.
With a customer base comprising more than 250 German telecom providers and resellers, and over 900 international partners, Deutsche Telekom’s wholesale units have long been central to expanding digital networks. The combined T Wholesale portfolio includes IPX and fibre optic networks, Ethernet and MPLS connectivity, data centre services, in-flight broadband, and high-security solutions. Looking ahead, the division will also prioritise innovations in areas such as Network APIs, 5G Standalone, edge cloud, artificial intelligence and strategic partnerships to drive future growth.

Why it is important
The unification under T Wholesale underscores Deutsche Telekom’s strategy to simplify customer engagement and enhance efficiency across markets increasingly characterised by internationalisation. Clients can expect optimised processes, faster response times, improved service quality and potentially lower costs as a result of the consolidation. Offering all services from a single source aims to reduce operational complexity for customers navigating multiple jurisdictions.
By combining national and international expertise, Deutsche Telekom is positioning itself to better serve carriers and resellers who require seamless cross-border communications infrastructure. In an era where digital transformation demands interconnected solutions, the merger helps the company cater to evolving customer needs with greater agility.
The move also strengthens Deutsche Telekom’s competitive edge in a global telecoms landscape where collaborative infrastructure-building and innovation — particularly in next-generation technologies like 5G and edge computing — are critical for long-term relevance.
