In response to an interim order from the Turkish Competition Authority (TCA), Threads, a social media platform, is set to shut down in Türkiye, affecting users’ engagement within the community. Despite disagreement with the order, Threads is taking steps to comply while aiming to minimize disruptions for its Türkiye-based users.
Notification and options for users in Türkiye
Threads will notify all users in Türkiye about the impending shutdown through the app before April 29. This proactive communication aims to keep users informed and provide them with the necessary information regarding the platform’s closure in compliance with the TCA’s interim order.

Deactivation vs. Deletion
Users in Türkiye will have the option to either deactivate or delete their Threads profiles.
