The London Internet Exchange (LINX), one of the world’s largest internet exchange point (IXP) operators, has launched LINX Kenya Limited, a new regional internet exchange based in Nairobi. The new platform aims to provide critical infrastructure for East Africa’s internet ecosystem, improving connectivity, lowering latency, and creating more efficient routes for local and international traffic.

According to LINX’s official website, the organisation is built on mutuality and non-profit values, with members including major ISPs, cloud providers, and content networks. Through its expansion into Kenya, LINX intends to support local carriers and data centre operators by offering secure, neutral interconnection services.

In addition to basic peering, LINX Kenya will provide services such as private VLANs, closed user groups, and cloud on-ramps, helping enterprises and ISPs reduce operational costs while enhancing security and performance.
