Summary
- ARIN’s published eligible electorate increased from 1,637 organizations in 2025 to 2,350 in 2026, a gain of 713; its General Member roll rose from 1,679 to 2,407.
- Voting organizations increased from 772 to 1,073, yet ARIN’s published participation rate slipped from 47.2% to 45.7%.
ARIN found 301 more voting organizations this year and still lost ground on turnout. The 2 November result records 1,073 General Members casting ballots, up from 772 in the 2025 result. The eligible electorate grew by 713 over the two published snapshots: 1,637 became 2,350. Ballots grew 39%; the eligible roll grew about 44%. The rate moved the other way, from 47.2% to 45.7%. Calling the larger raw vote a participation victory would leave the denominator in the drawer.
The roll itself moved sharply. ARIN counted 1,679 General Members in September 2025 and 2,407 in September 2026, an increase of 728. Of those, 1,637 and 2,350 respectively were eligible at the later October voting-contact cutoffs. Both announcements define eligibility as a General Member in good standing with a properly registered Voting Contact. The cutoffs fall on different dates in the two years, and the public tallies do not identify which organizations joined or left the roll. They do show a near-identical conversion of General Members into eligible voters: about 97.5% in 2025 and 97.6% in 2026.
Subtract ballots from eligibility and the quiet side of the election grows from 865 to 1,277 organizations. That is 412 more eligible organizations without a ballot in the annual snapshots. ARIN also counted 607 Voting Contacts representing the 772 voting organizations in 2025, versus 898 contacts representing 1,073 in 2026. A contact can represent several organizations; the organization remains the voter. The two Board-seat margins make a lively headline. This larger arithmetic asks who actually entered the room before those margins mattered.
