Summary

  • ARIN's 2 November result gives Catherine Middleton 569 votes for the third Board seat and Kevin Blumberg 564. Incumbents Tina Morris and Dan Alexander took the other two seats.
  • The election involved 1,073 participating General Member organizations out of 2,350 eligible, a reported 45.7% participation rate. Their ballots came through 898 designated Voting Contacts; the Board and Advisory Council quorum threshold was more than 5%.

A five-vote edge is an organizational result

The four Board candidate totals were 716 for Morris, 634 for Alexander, 569 for Middleton and 564 for Blumberg. Middleton and Blumberg were separated by five recorded candidate votes at the third-seat cutoff. These are not five named people who can be summoned to explain the result. ARIN members are organizations, and the election rules page says each member organization designates a Voting Contact per Org ID to vote on its behalf. One contact can represent more than one participating organization; the result page counts 1,073 participating members but only 898 contacts.

That distinction matters whenever an institution describes its mandate as a voice of the community. The relevant chain is eligible organization, appointed contact, submitted ballot, candidate tally. ARIN publishes the first and last pieces as numbers and identifies the middle layer as 898 contacts. It does not publish a voter-by-voter ledger, and this article does not need one. It needs readers to understand what the figures measure.

Quorum was easy; the contest was close

ARIN reports 2,407 General Members as of 7 September and 2,350 eligible organizations as of 15 October. Of those eligible organizations, 1,073 participated. The result page reports 45.7%. It says quorum was achieved because ballots were cast by more than 5% of eligible General Members. A legal quorum can establish a valid election without describing broad participation. Here, nearly 54.3% of eligible organizations did not cast a ballot, while five votes separated the last elected Board candidate from the next.

The Advisory Council race had its own narrow boundary: Altie Jackson took the fifth seat with 515 votes, fifteen ahead of Douglas Camin's 500. The newly elected Board and Council members begin three-year terms on 1 January 2027. ARIN says its CEO, Election Officer and Chief Legal Officer confirmed the tally and compliance with voting procedures.

The public calendar has a loose page

The result article is dated 2 November. ARIN's still-visible 2026 election calendar lists Board confirmation for 5 November and results announcement for 6 November. ARIN's result article says the election was verified, but gives no separate date for Board confirmation. A corrected calendar or a dated confirmation receipt would join the two official records. The five-vote outcome is already public; its procedural timeline should be just as easy to trace.
