Summary

  • APNIC says its own registry-data analysis began in September, while the initial reviews for IRINN and CNNIC have moved into follow-up with the registries.
  • IDNIC’s remaining five-year review is still in progress; APNIC reports no findings or confirmed violations in the update.

The review has entered APNIC’s own registry

APNIC’s 12 October Q3 update marks a change in the review’s scope: analysis of APNIC’s own registry data began in September. The program examines IPv4 delegations and transfers made by APNIC and each National Internet Registry (NIR) over roughly a decade, against the applicable address policies. The update describes work stages, not the outcome of that examination.

Two NIR reviews have moved past initial data analysis. APNIC says the initial reviews for IRINN and CNNIC are complete. It provided IRINN’s results to IRINN and India’s NIXI in September; CNNIC’s results were expected to be shared with CNNIC during October. Those are separate milestones: completing an initial review does not mean the NIR has finished evaluating the results or any follow-up.

One track remains open. APNIC is still reviewing IDNIC data for the five-year period left out of its first delegation review. It says it is working with VNNIC and IDNIC, and now IRINN, to evaluate results and eliminate false positives. Reviews for TWNIC, KRNIC and JPNIC are reported complete.

The Q2 update had described the IRINN and CNNIC initial reviews as ongoing and APNIC’s own analysis as planned for Q3. The new note records those transitions, but publishes no case counts, substantive findings or confirmed policy breaches for them. A question raised by a review is not, by itself, a violation.

APNIC aims to complete reviews, or place them with NIRs for checking and remediation, by the end of 2026. It hopes to conclude the program and release results in early 2027, while acknowledging that some remediation could continue afterward. The Q3 update sets out the latest stages; APNIC’s Q2 update shows the earlier plan, and the program description explains its wider remit.
