Summary
- Agility says Digit has moved more than 100,000 totes at GXO’s Flowery Branch, Georgia, facility.
- The companies have named Statesville, North Carolina, and Lebanon, Tennessee, for deployments expected to start in early 2027.
- The next useful comparison is work completed at each site, not the number of facilities on a slide.
Analysis
Warehouses do not earn a return for having a robot in the building. They earn it when a task moves through the building reliably enough to change the operating bill. GXO’s new announcement offers one real count and two future addresses.
At Flowery Branch, Digit moves totes and places them on conveyors alongside existing automation. Agility says the robot has handled more than 100,000 totes there since the companies’ multi-year agreement began in 2024. That is a cumulative operating receipt from a live logistics site, not a laboratory demonstration.
On October 26, the companies announced an expansion to GXO’s Statesville and Lebanon facilities, where Digit is slated for repetitive material handling in e-commerce fulfillment. The plan starts with Digit 4 in early 2027, then moves to Digit 5 when that model is commercially available. The sequence matters: GXO is extending an existing workflow across sites while Agility moves between product generations.
The announcement has crossed an important commercial threshold: two additional locations are named, and the task is concrete. But a cumulative tote count cannot tell a buyer how much work each robot completes per shift, how often a person intervenes, or whether the site saves paid hours. The company did not disclose robot counts by site, tote throughput or labor-hours saved; site-level operating receipts would show whether the Georgia record travels.
The next report should put Flowery Branch, Statesville and Lebanon on the same page: task volume, operating hours, interruptions and the human work left around the conveyor. If GXO publishes those measures consistently, the expansion becomes a repeatability story. If only the site count grows, the footprint grows faster than the evidence.
