BPF2025: Peering for resilience in Asia’s digital future

The BKNIX Peering Forum 2025 convened on 22–23 May at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, drawing network operators, data centre providers, and internet infrastructure experts from across the Asia-Pacific region. Organised by the Thai Network Information Center Foundation (THNICF), the event featured a comprehensive agenda focusing on peering, routing security, and the evolution of digital infrastructure.

One of the most engaging sessions at the BKNIX Peering Forum 2024 was “Shaking the Network: Peering and Infrastructure Resilience after the Myanmar–Thailand Earthquake.” The panel, moderated by Yoshinobu Matsuzaki (Senior Engineer, IIJ), featured key voices in regional connectivity: Tanapon Chandavasu (Deputy Director, Internet Engineering & Operation, True Internet), Thein Myint Khine (Founder and CEO, Myanmar Internet Exchange – MMIX), and Kenichi Miyashita (Managing Director, Telehouse Thailand). They shared operational challenges and infrastructure lessons following the cross-border disruption caused by the earthquake.

In a related keynote, Amreesh D. Phokeer (Internet Measurement and Data Expert, Internet Society) presented “Shaken But Connected? Lessons on Internet Resilience from the Myanmar–Thailand Earthquake,” using data-driven insights to highlight latency impacts, network rerouting patterns, and the critical role of regional coordination in ensuring service continuity.

LARUS also took part in the forum, engaging with peers and technical leaders from across Asia to exchange ideas and insights on IP resource management, interconnection strategies, and regional infrastructure resilience. Their participation underlined the company’s continued focus on collaborative learning and ecosystem support within Asia’s rapidly evolving internet landscape.
