AuthMind Inc., an identity security and operations (Identity SecOps) provider, has announced a successful seed funding round led by Ballistic Ventures, with backing from IBM Ventures. The investment, totaling over $8.5 million, will be used to develop technologies against cyberattacks that plague organizations across multi-cloud and on-premises environments.

Protecting Identity as the Goal

AuthMind’s co-founder and CEO, Shlomi Yanai, emphasized the critical importance of protecting identity infrastructures. He explained that hackers don’t hack in, they log in. Despite substantial investments in identity security, it has remained a vulnerable target. AuthMind’s mission is to bridge this security gap by fixing vulnerabilities in real-time.

The AuthMind Identity SecOps Platform helps businesses around three key aspects:

Identity & Access Blind Spots: AuthMind detects and addresses identity-related blind spots like shadow assets, unauthorized local accounts, missing multi-factor authentication (MFA), and the use of unauthorized SaaS applications across any cloud or platform.

Identity Infrastructure Security Gaps: AuthMind offers advanced Identity Threat Detection & Response (ITDR) capabilities with detailed contextual analysis. It identifies exposures, threats, and attacks in real-time. It operates across identity infrastructure such as cloud Identity Providers (IdPs), on-premises or hybrid directories, MFA solutions, Single Sign-On (SSO), and Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions.

Identity Systems Misconfigurations & Non-Compliance: AuthMind identifies dangerous misconfigurations that come from human error, deviations from policy, and suboptimal implementations of identity tools.

Proprietary AI Addresses Threats Real-Time

In 2022, AuthMind earned recognition as a Gartner Cool Vendor in Identity-First Security. Its Identity SecOps Platform serves as a crucial security layer. This newfound visibility empowers businesses to operate with confidence. The result is a rapid access to services, applications, and systems while maintaining security integrity.

AuthMind’s approach relies on a patented, AI-based access neural network that observes all managed and unmanaged identities. The collaboration with Ballistic Ventures and IBM Ventures aims to extend AuthMind’s platform to enterprises seeking protection against identity-based attacks.

Ballistic Ventures co-founder and General Partner, Jake Seid, highlighted how compromised identities are the primary weak points in cyber incidents. He commended AuthMind’s approach as one that not only secures this critical surface but also facilitates the agility of engineering and business teams.

George Mina, IBM Security Software Strategy and Venture Leader, echoed Seid’s sentiments. AuthMind has proven its ability to use AI for real-time threat detection and visualization of attack paths across hybrid environments.
AuthMind, founded in 2020 and headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, with R&D operations in Pune, India. AuthMind secures business to empower them for the rapid adoption of new cloud and SaaS technologies.
