Zoom recently officially launched a video conferencing app designed specifically for Apple Vision Pro, accompanied by several related renderings. The company has announced that the app will be available on February 2nd. The application developed by Zoom for Apple Vision Pro seamlessly integrates video conferences with users’ physical spaces. It utilises the infinite canvas of Apple Vision Pro to blur the boundaries between in-person and remote meetings, fostering increased connection and inclusivity for dispersed teams. In this way, users will be able to connect with colleagues and clients in a more realistic and immersive environment.
Zoom emerges as key non-entertainment app for Apple Vision Pro
Although it might be challenging to consider a conferencing app as a flagship feature for Vision Pro, Zoom stands out as one of the few non-entertainment third-party apps, apart from Apple’s own suite of office tools, set to be available before its launch on February 2nd. According to Zoom, users can expect two main experiences through Vision Pro: a more immersive meeting experience and the display of more authentic interactive reactions.
In contrast to traditional video conferences, users wearing Vision Pro will not show their faces during meetings. However, Apple has equipped the device with a “Persona” feature that can react in real-time to the wearer’s facial expressions and head movements. By creating a “digital version” of themselves, participants theoretically allow others in the meeting to notice their “digital avatar” reacting, for example, rolling their eyes at a poorly received joke.
Zoom is the first third-party company to adopt this technology for app development. Apple has mentioned that users can create a “digital avatar” in just a few minutes. The consumer electronics giant has also stated that Microsoft Teams and Cisco Webex are adopting this feature.

Keep people closely connected
Beyond the digital avatars, Zoom has emphasised that conducting meetings through Vision Pro can provide an “immersive” experience by enlarging meeting participants to the most suitable size. This is particularly suitable for users who wish to feel as if they are in the same room as colleagues or clients.
Zoom states, ‘Regardless of when and where they work, Apple Vision Pro’s Zoom can help team members stay connected. Zoom’s integration with Apple Vision Pro and visionOS extends our platform commitment, allowing participants to have the ultimate meeting experience from anywhere and realising our commitment to seamless collaboration and communication.’
With the flexibility to choose between in-person, remote, or hybrid work settings, Zoom aims to assist users in enhancing connections, productivity, and collaboration with colleagues and clients. The Apple Vision Pro version of Zoom provides users with a native meeting experience, offering superior audio and video quality, along with easy meeting initiation, joining, collaboration, and scheduling capabilities.
Apple Vision Pro’s exciting features
Additional features that Apple Vision Pro users can anticipate include:
- Personas: Users in Apple Vision Pro can present themselves in a real spatial form, allowing other meeting participants to see their facial and hand movements.
- Space Zoom Experience: The zoom feature in Apple Vision Pro creates an immersive experience, allowing users to zoom to the perfect size. This is ideal for users who want to feel as if they are in the same room as colleagues and clients, as no additional physical devices or setups are needed.

Other features of Zoom on Apple Vision Pro are expected to be released in the spring of this year, including:
- 3D Object Sharing: Sharing 3D files is a crucial part of workflows in media and design industries. While you can share files on a traditional screen, the experience becomes vivid when you can see objects in the environment. For example, animators or game designers can collaborate and share the latest character models through Zoom’s 3D object-sharing feature.
- Zoom Team Chat: Team Chat is closely integrated with Zoom Meetings, allowing easy information sharing and communication with colleagues. Apple Vision Pro users will be able to collaborate with colleagues and simplify communication through Zoom’s Team Chat in the app.
- Pinning: Users will be able to pin up to five Zoom meeting participants anywhere in their physical space and can choose to remove the background of said participants, helping Apple Vision Pro users feel more closely connected with people in the meeting.
