Summary

  • Separate the membership organisation, the open policy community and the networks that use the resources.
  • Assess registry records with routing and legal evidence, while judging policy through participation, rationale and appeal.

The RIPE NCC allocates and records IP addresses and autonomous system numbers across a large and diverse service region. It also supports measurements, coordination and training, but does not operate member networks. The next useful evidence follows one resource from policy rule to allocation record and observed route, naming who can correct each layer. That chain makes both the registry’s authority and its limits legible without confusing community consensus with day-to-day network control.
