What happened: RIPE Labs opens submissions for RIPE 91
The RIPE Network Coordination Centre (RIPE NCC) has opened submissions for the RIPE Labs article competition in advance of RIPE 91, which will take place in Bucharest, Romania, from 20–24 October 2025. The competition invites original articles on topics including internet routing, IP addressing, network measurement, policy issues, and operational experience.
Submissions will be reviewed by the RIPE Labs editorial team, with shortlisted pieces published online. The author of the winning article will receive a paid trip to RIPE 91 and present their work during the meeting. Contributions are welcome from across the global internet community, particularly from those engaged in technical or governance-related work.

Why this is important
The RIPE Labs article competition provides an open platform for technical voices that may otherwise be underrepresented in internet governance discussions. By linking writing with presentation opportunities, it bridges online engagement with in-person dialogue at RIPE Meetings, which have served the internet community since 1989.
Hosting RIPE 91 in Eastern Europe also encourages regional participation in policy and infrastructure debates. This aligns with broader efforts at ICANN and the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) to diversify stakeholder input. As tensions grow around global internet resource distribution, community-led platforms like RIPE Labs remain important for open and neutral technical exchange.
