The fact

Mavenir and speech-AI company Sanas have agreed to integrate Sanas technology into Mavenir’s MAVcore Voice AI portfolio. The companies say the planned service will allow mobile operators to provide real-time translation, speech enhancement, accent transformation and language assistance from within the operator’s core network. The integration is also intended to add deepfake detection and fraud signals for synthetic voices.

The functions will be orchestrated through Mavenir’s AI Agent Studio. Mavenir and Sanas said they will begin joint technical validation before making the service commercially available to operators. They have not named an operator taking part in the validation, announced a commercial launch date or disclosed performance results from a live carrier deployment.

The assessment

Mavenir is trying to put speech processing into the same network environment that already carries an operator’s voice service. If the integration works as planned, translation or speech enhancement could be applied through the mobile network rather than requiring both callers to use a separate application.

That makes technical validation the next job. Mavenir and Sanas still have to show how the functions behave when they are integrated with an operator voice platform, including whether the processing can meet the performance and data-handling requirements of live calls. The announcement does not yet show that an operator has completed those tests.

For BTW readers, the first operator deployment will matter more than the number of functions in the portfolio. It will show which speech features are actually enabled in a carrier network, where the processing runs and what changes an operator has to make before the service can carry live traffic.

What to watch

Watch for completion of the joint validation and the first named operator trial or commercial deployment. Details on network architecture, supported voice services, processing location and measured performance would show how much integration is required before Sanas functions can move from Mavenir’s portfolio into live operator calls.
