Summary
- ARIN’s 22 October recap identifies 675 General Members with two years of missed ballots. Voting closes at 7:00 p.m. ET on Friday, 30 October 2026.
- Eligible organizations may select up to three Board of Trustees candidates and up to five Advisory Council candidates.
For that cohort, the ballot also serves as a participation receipt. A General Member moves to Service Member status after three consecutive ARIN elections without a ballot. A submitted blank ballot counts as participation, satisfying the requirement to retain General status without endorsing a candidate. Even silence has paperwork.
The recap separately reports 2,356 eligible organizations out of 2,407 General Members: that figure describes this year’s electorate, while the 675 records two years of nonvoting.
Voting opened on 22 October, after the deadline for designating the person who could act. Only an organization’s valid Voting Contact can submit its ballot, and that contact must be named at least 45 days before an election. General status also requires good standing and no overdue annual service-fee invoice. For an organization in the 675-member cohort, a decision made this week to participate therefore has to reach an already authorized person, with the organization meeting those conditions.
For any of the 675 organizations that is reclassified, Service membership continues, but the election vote goes. General Members hold that right and may subscribe to the General Members Mailing List. An organization can reapply for General status at any time, giving it a route back if it later decides to seek voting membership again. Obtaining Internet number resources and participating in the open Policy Development Process require no membership.
