- The two major content and media conglomerates in the United States, Walt Disney Company and Warner Bros Discovery, have joined forces in the streaming business.
- Disney and Warner Bros announced on May 8 that they will release a bundled package offering content from both companies’ streaming platforms this summer.
- They will also launch together a slightly cheaper subscription plan with ads and a basic subscription plan that allows ad-free viewing.
Disney and Warner Bros Discovery announced plans to launch a bundled service akin to traditional cable TV packages, allowing viewers to access Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max all in one package, according to reports on May 8.
Streaming business
Subscribers to the bundle will have access to content from Disney’s streaming platform, Disney+, as well as Warner Bros‘ streaming platform, Max. Disney Entertainment’s Joe Early stated, “The new bundle with Max will offer subscribers much more choice and value.”
JB Perrette, the head of Warner Bros’ streaming division, mentioned, “This new service will contribute to steadily increasing subscribers and fostering much stronger engagement.” While the company has not disclosed the price of this bundle, it is expected to be significantly cheaper than the combined cost of subscribing to each platform separately.

Value of collaboration
The package will be offered in ad-supported and ad-free versions, with pricing yet to be disclosed. There is speculation that a deal between the two companies is crucial as the package combining Max and Disney+ could fill a gap in the market currently not addressed.
