What happened

Apple has signed onto the Biden-Harris Administration’s voluntary AI safety commitments, joining 15 other major tech companies like Google and Microsoft. further establishing them as key to responsible AI innovation.

Nine months ago, President Biden issued a landmark Executive Order aimed at leading the U.S. in effectively managing and capitalising on AI. This order built upon voluntary commitments from 15 top U.S. AI companies secured last year with Vice President Harris’s support.

The executive order “built on voluntary commitments” was supported by 15 leading AI companies last year.

After signing the October executive order on AI, in April Biden announced further steps taken to regulate AI use to protect safety and worker’s rights.

The actions represented some of the strongest government guardrails to date on machine-learning technology, the White House said at the time.
