• Comcast Technology Solutions will manage A+E Global Media's VOD distribution through MediaExpress under a multi-year agreement
  • A+E will use one ingest point for video and metadata, while Comcast prepares packages for outlets including Amazon, Apple Channels and Xfinity

The fact

Comcast Technology Solutions announced a multi-year agreement with A+E Global Media on 8 September to manage and distribute video-on-demand content through its MediaExpress service. The agreement covers brands including A&E, HISTORY and Lifetime.

A+E will send video titles and associated metadata through a single ingest point. Comcast will then handle preparation, packaging and delivery to distribution partners including Amazon, Apple Channels, Xfinity, Cox, Mediacom, DIRECTV and DISH.

MediaExpress was launched in February 2025. Comcast says the service can adapt video packages and metadata to the requirements of different destinations and provides a dashboard for tracking delivery status. The companies did not disclose the contract value, expected savings or any measured improvement in delivery times.

The assessment

A+E's distribution team can now send one source package to Comcast instead of managing a separate delivery process for every outlet covered by the service. Comcast then prepares the video and metadata for each destination's requirements.

That does not make those requirements disappear. If a platform rejects a delivery, A+E still needs to know whether the problem came from the original material, Comcast's preparation or the receiving platform. The status dashboard should help identify where a delivery has stopped, but the agreement does not show how quickly those problems will be resolved.

For BTW readers, A+E is mainly simplifying how its on-demand content reaches different platforms. Instead of managing each delivery separately, its team can work through one service while still tracking whether each destination accepts the package. The real benefit will depend on whether that reduces manual work without making delivery problems harder to see or fix.

What to watch

Watch for A+E or Comcast to disclose delivery acceptance rates, turnaround times or examples of failed packages being resolved through MediaExpress. Evidence that one ingest workflow reduces manual submissions or shortens delivery times would show whether centralising distribution is improving operations rather than simply moving the work to one supplier.
