Bethesda’s highly anticipated “The Elder Scrolls VI” won’t be making its way to the PlayStation 5, aan official Microsoft documentation reveals. This news comes as part of the FTC’s case against Microsoft, the parent company of Bethesda.

The game, slated for release at least three years from now, will be an exclusive title for PC and Xbox users, much like Bethesda’s recent release, “Starfield.”

Multiple Titles Won’t See PS 5 Release

This revelation comes from a confidential chart outlining Microsoft’s game releases since 2018, following its acquisition of Bethesda Softworks. None of the listed titles, including “Deathloop,” “Fallout 76,” “Starfield,” and “The Elder Scrolls VI,” will see a release on PlayStation systems. “Starfield” has just been released, and “Redfall” hit shelves in May, leaving fans eagerly awaiting “The Elder Scrolls VI.”

In contrast, “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim,” the iconic fantasy role-playing game initially released in 2011, found its way onto various PlayStation consoles. These include the PS3, PS4, and PS5, as well as older Xbox consoles, Windows PCs, and even the Nintendo Switch. However, its sequel appears to be narrowing its platform availability.

A Long Wait for Gaming Fans

The chart notes that “The Elder Scrolls VI” release date remains “to be confirmed, but expected 2026 or later.” Bethesda initially teased the game back in 2018 with a teaser trailer. Pete Hines, the head of publishing at Bethesda, recently mentioned that the title is still in its “early development” stages.

In 2021, Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, announced that “The Elder Scrolls VI” would be exclusive to Windows PCs and Xbox, similar to “Starfield.” However, Spencer’s statement appeared to be somewhat ambiguous when he later stated that he “can’t recall” making such an assertion, adding a layer of uncertainty for fans.

As it stands, “The Elder Scrolls VI” seems to be steering clear of a PlayStation release. Fans will have to exercise patience as they await the next big installment in the Bethesda universe.
