On February 22nd, Sony‘s PlayStation Blog updated, discussing the past and future plans for PS VR2. Over 40 games were launched a year ago, with upcoming titles like ‘Resident Evil 4 VR’ and ‘Among Us VR.’

Sony announced testing PS VR2’s capability to access PC games to offer players more options beyond PS5-exclusive titles, aiming for support by 2024.

PS VR2 hasn’t achieved significant market success

PS VR2, a high-end VR headset tailored for PlayStation 5, debuted early last year; however, due to its $599 price tag and limited exclusive games, it hasn’t achieved significant market success.

Last year, third-party SteamVR driver iVRy announced a successful crack of PS VR2 hardware authentication, enabling the headset’s built-in tracking feature to work on PC, claiming ‘PSVR2 tracking is ‘complete’ and now has full 6DOF head tracking functionality in SteamVR, with a 2000Hz IMU and 60Hz SLAM, similar to PS5.
