  • Silicone Connect enhances Congo’s digital capacity with advanced DWDM technology.
  • The company plans to extend its fibre optic network to the northern region by 2024.

As part of President Denis Sassou Nguesso’s vision for the development of the digital economy in Congo, Silicone Connect continues to strengthen the country’s digital infrastructure, positioning Congo as a key player in connectivity in Central Africa.

Strengthening Congo’s digital backbone

Silicone Connect, a leading infrastructure operator in Congo, has made significant strides in modernising the country’s digital infrastructure. Established in 2020 through a public-private partnership (PPP) with the Congolese government, the company was entrusted with operating an extensive fibre optic network. Since then, Silicone Connect has been pivotal in enhancing the digital capabilities of Congo by implementing advanced Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technology, which has increased the network’s capacity thirtyfold. The recent completion of two express lines, each offering 200 Gbps, between Pointe-Noire and Brazzaville, highlights the company’s commitment to delivering high-speed, low-latency connectivity across the nation.

“Operators are asking us to carry capacities beyond 10 GBPS. Today, we are able to meet these demands.”

Gaëtan Soltesz, CEO of Silicone Connect
