Microsoft-backed OpenAI is developing software that can generate minute-long videos based on text prompts, the company said on Thursday.
Current progress
The software, called Sora, is currently available for Red Team, which helps identify flaws in artificial intelligence systems, and for visual artists, designers and filmmakers to get feedback on models, the company said in a statement.
Said in a statement: “Sora can generate multiple roles, specific types of actions and accurate subject and the background details of complex scenes.”The statement also added that it can create multiple shots in a video.
Not just videos, but animations
In addition to generating videos based on text prompts, Sora can animate still images, the company said in a blog post.
The video-generating software comes on the back of OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot, which was released in late 2022 and made waves around GenAI with its ability to write emails, code, and poetry.
Social media giant Meta Platform beefed up its image generation model, Emu, last year by adding two AI-based features to edit and generate videos based on text prompts.facebook’s parent company is also seeking to compete with Microsoft, Alphabet’s Google and Amazon in the rapidly transforming field of generative artificial intelligence.
