Poland plans to launch its first military observation satellite in 2025, utilizing radar and optical technology. Inspired by the experiences from Ukraine, Poland is concurrently developing space units to strengthen its military. An agreement has been signed between the Ministry of Defence and Airbus to deliver two reconnaissance satellites, which is plan to launch in 2027.
A series of military observation satellites
Poland aims to launch a series of military observation satellites in 2025, with the prospect of deploying the first Polish satellite into orbit next year.
They plan to acquire a set of satellites equipped with radar and optical technology, realising Earth observation without atmospheric constraints, and would employ both domestic and international technologies.
Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that the decisions taken this year, including the establishment of drone forces, the creation of space component forces, and medical forces, aim at strengthening the Polish armed forces and are based on the Ukrainian experience.

Preparations underway
In December 2022, the Polish Ministry of Defence signed an agreement with Airbus to deliver two reconnaissance satellites, scheduled to be launched in 2027.
