- Adobe is adding a new generative AI experience to its Acrobat PDF management software ,which helps to better chat with documents.
- The AI assistant feature is capable of analyzing the content of a document, suggesting queries for further investigation, and producing references to validate the origin of the answers that were given by the AI.
Adobe has launched a beta version of its new AI Assistant in Acrobat, which aims to enhance the digital document experience for users by making it easier to find and comprehend information in lengthy documents. The feature, described as a “conversational engine,” can answer questions, summarize files, and generate content recommendations based on the document’s contents. AI Assistant in Acrobat can be used with all document formats supported by the app, including Word and PowerPoint, and abides by Adobe’s data security protocols to ensure customer data is not stored or used to train the AI.
Handling massive amounts of text to improve work efficiency
This chatbot aims to streamline tasks related to working with massive text documents, reducing time-consuming activities such as summarizing large reports into concise highlights for emails, meetings, and presentations. Users of Acrobat can ask the chatbot to consolidate and format information into easily digestible content for various purposes like emails, reports, and presentations. Additionally, AI Assistant can assess a document’s contents, recommend questions for exploration, and generate citations to verify the source of the answers provided by the AI.

Expansion of AI Assistant’s functions
Abhigyan Modi, senior vice president for Adobe Document Cloud, said Reader and Acrobat customers would have access to the full range of AI Assistant capabilities through a new add-on subscription plan when it’s out of beta. Adobe has not specified how long AI Assistant will be in beta, but the company has outlined future capabilities, including integrations with its Firefly generative AI model, multi-document and multi-source data extraction, and features for initial draft generation and copy editing.
The new AI Assistant experience is available for Acrobat customers on Standard ($12.99 per month), Pro ($19.99 per month), and Teams subscription plans across both desktop and web. AI Assistant will be available to those customers “at no additional cost” while the product is in beta.
