Analysis

As part of the deal, HCLTech will also take on around 500 skilled employees from the HPE telecom unit. The acquisition is expected to close later this year, subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions. HPE will continue to collaborate with HCLTech as a strategic partner, particularly around infrastructure and hybrid cloud deployments. HCLTech executives said the acquisition aligns with the company’s broader strategy to deepen its role in telecom digital transformation, covering areas such as 5G, network automation, artificial intelligence and data-driven operations. The firm has increasingly focused on industry-specific platforms rather than generic IT services, with telecom identified as a key vertical for growth.
