Urban Suhadolnik

Urban Suhadolnik's work on two consecutive RIPE policy proposals offers a useful lesson in how Internet number-resource rules change: slowly, publicly, and through revision rather than declaration. He co-authored the broader proposal 2025-01 with Tobias Fiebig, answered operational questions at RIPE 91, and then co-authored the narrower 2026-01 with Leo Vegoda. The first proposal was withdrawn on 6 July 2026 and never became policy. The second was published the next day and remains open for discussion. Its central idea is limited: ease the justification required when a qualified prefix holder requests a first autonomous system number, while preserving routing-policy and use tests for additional numbers.
