TTNet Turk Telekomunikasyon

The TTNet routing incident of 24 December 2004 exposed a durable weakness in internet infrastructure: a network can pass routes across the wrong relationship boundary, but the damage becomes systemic only when other autonomous systems accept, prefer, and redistribute those routes. The accountability lesson is therefore larger than one configuration error. Operators that originate, export, import, and relay BGP announcements must be able to show that customer routes are authorized, relationship policy is explicit, abnormal volume is contained, and recovery is verified from outside the network that caused the event.
